As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we take bicycles donated by the public, fix them up, add lights so they are legal at night, a basket or rack so riders don't have to carry things in their hands, and a secure lock to deter theft. It costs about $30 to equip a bike.

We then give the bikes to social service organizations to give to their homeless clients, adults and children, as the social workers see fit. 

For a small $10 donation you can provide a light set, rack, basket or lock. For $30 you can equip an entire bicycle.
